For most Newport visitors coming in by air or train, you probably won't need to rent a car full-time if you'll be exploring mostly Newport. That's because for all it has to offer, Newport is a very compact city, with just a few miles from end to end. Access to mansions, beaches, downtown shopping, dining and a lot of lodging options are located within walking distance to most everything. Grabbing a taxi, Uber, or Lyft is easy as well, should your plans include some place a little off the beaten path, say the beach.
